Spread Holiday Cheer by Volunteering with Ardent this Year

During the holidays, many people look for ways to spread love and good through volunteering. At Ardent Hospice & Palliative Care, we offer many special opportunities to give back during the season. Whether you want to spend time with families or have the ability to donate to families in need, there’s a place for you at Ardent.

Toy Drive

Beginning Thanksgiving week, each of our locations will be collecting new, unwrapped toys. These items will go directly to the family members of our patients who cannot afford to purchase gifts for their children or grandchildren. It’s a way to bring our patients peace during the holidays; as we care for them, they can find joy in knowing their families and loved ones are cared for too.

Food Drive

In addition to a toy drive, we’ll also be collecting canned and non-perishable food. The food drive will begin Thanksgiving week and every donated food item will be donated to the local community food banks in San Diego, Fresno, Palm Springs, and Delano.

Gift Donations

Many of our patients can use a larger dose of cheer at this time of year, which is why we’re also asking for special gift donations. Many of our current volunteers and community members are planning on baking cookies, making blankets, and creating homemade cards for us to pass to our hospice patients during our visits with them this season.

Gift Wrapping Fundraiser

This year we’re hosting a gift-wrapping fundraiser at Sierra Vista Mall, in Clovis. We’re looking for volunteers to work a few hours during the holiday season and wrap gifts for shoppers. All proceeds will go towards funding our No One Should Die Alone Foundation, which pays for life necessities and grants wishes for hospice patients in need. (For specific dates and times, check in on our Fresno office’s Facebook page and Instagram.)

Spending Time with our Ardent Families

Of course, we’re always looking for amazing people to visit and provide companionship to our hospice patients and their families. The holiday season provides volunteers with unique ways to spend time with our patients. Many of our volunteers will sing Christmas carols and watch beloved holiday movies with patients, and they may even help decorate a patient’s home to fill it with festive cheer.
