At Ardent Hospice & Palliative Care, we look at care differently—through an orange-colored lens, if you will. To us, hospice is a time for families to reconnect, live life to the fullest, and cherish their time together.
Our strong orange presence in the community is a way for us to show what hospice and palliative care truly mean. Orange is a bright color you can’t help but notice. And with it, there are several emotions and connotations associated with it. Here are just a few examples of why Ardent has chosen such a strong color to represent our care.
Warmth
For us, hospice and palliative care isn’t just about the patient; it’s also about the family. Our hospice team truly cares and tries to bring a sense of warmth back to the families we work with. Sometimes that means extra phone calls or support meetings with families, sitting and reading scripture with patients, or just giving a hug when it’s needed. We want them to know that despite their situation, it’s possible to find warmth, hope, comfort, encouragement, and even joy.
Encouragement
Hospice and palliative care can be a difficult journey, for the patient and their loved ones. That’s why we’re here to provide support and encouragement every step of the way. We want our families to be encouraged by the fact their loved one is receiving amazing care and that they have a knowledgeable and caring team to turn to in times of need.
Joy
Many times, when patients are on hospice care, they learn to experience a new type of joy, independent of their circumstances. They’ve learned how to appreciate the little moments and time they get to spend with the people they love the most.
At Ardent, our nurses, social worker, and spiritual chaplain are all trained to hone in on the magical moments for our patients. We observe and listen to what brings happiness to our patients and peace to their families—whether that’s sharing a favorite meal, participating in a particular activity, or simply spending time in meaningful conversation. As much as it’s our job to deliver high-quality medical care, we also see it as our job to keep our patients and their loved ones comfortable and full of joy during their final days.
Determination
Our entire team genuinely goes above and beyond to take care of our patients, and they’re determined to deliver the best care possible at all times. Even when they’re not on call, our nurses are always thinking about their patients and checking in with anyone who might be working with them that day.
And as a team, we’re always determined to arrange for care immediately upon a patient’s discharge from a hospital. That often means hurried trips to the pharmacy or late-night calls to medical equipment facilitators to make sure everything is set up and the patient is comfortable the moment they come onto hospice or palliative care.
Freedom
With hospice and palliative care, families gain the freedom to be a family again. We take the burden of caring for their loved one off their shoulders so they can instead focus on enjoying their moments together.
Our care also gives patients the freedom to live outside the confines of their diagnosis; we give them a chance to enjoy their life and make the moments with their loved ones so much more significant.
We invite you to let the orange in, and join us in rethinking what hospice and palliative care should mean to your family. To learn more about Ardent Hospice & Palliative Care or to schedule a consultation, call us at (858) 952-1786 or visit us online.
