Celebrate the Season & Last Few Days of Fall with Random Acts of Kindness

The end of the year is often known as the season of giving, and we’re taking that to heart at Ardent Hospice & Palliative Care. To round off the year, we’re asking our community to join us in giving back and spreading kindness.

With our No One Should Die Alone Foundation, we’re able to gift our patients with life necessities, life enhancements, and wish fulfillment all year long. During the holidays, we like to do a little something special for our patients and their families. We’ll be hosting a bereavement support group focusing on the emotional difficulties that come with the holiday season, but we’ll also be surprising our families with holiday cheer. We encourage you to do the same in any way you can.

Capture Your Random Acts of Kindness with #ArdentAutumn

Christmas decorations might be up, but fall doesn’t end until December 21st. Until then, we’re spearheading an initiative called Ardent Autumn. Ardent is encouraging our families and network to use the hashtag #ArdentAutumn on social media (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and LinkedIn) along with a post or photo sharing an act of kindness they’ve just done.

On December 15th, a random entry will be selected to win a $50 gift card. And with this kindness campaign, multiple entries are allowed; so the more cheer you spread, the better chance you have at winning.

Entries can be anything that makes someone’s day a little brighter. Some people have dressed in their Christmas best—Santa hats, ugly sweaters, and pointy elf shoes—and visited assisted living centers. It can also be as simple as paying for the coffee for the person behind you in line, or handing a bouquet of flowers to a stranger you pass in the parking lot. You can also donate to a food drive or to Toys for Tots; each of our Ardent offices is collecting canned food and toy donations until December 15th as well.

Volunteer with Ardent and Brighten a Patient’s Day

No matter the time of year, you can always volunteer at Ardent. Whether the spirit of the holidays is moving you to give back or you want a special way to participate in #ArdentAutumn, volunteering with our team is a meaningful way to donate your time. If you’re 16 years of age or older, you can accompany our nurses on patient visits and offer companionship, a listening ear, and friendly face.

Children or teens who can’t visit with patients can still get involved. Many of the families in our network will write out thoughtful cards or put together Christmas crafts to decorate our patients’ homes. Sometimes our patients don’t have family and get really depressed around the holidays, but a kind act like a card or small gift can make a huge difference in their lives during this season.

Volunteering and spreading joy at Christmas time can change your perspective during this busy time of year. Meeting our amazing patients and hearing their stories can change your view on life as well. To learn more about volunteer opportunities with Ardent Hospice & Palliative Care, visit us online. And don’t forget to use the hashtag #ArdentAutumn as you spread Christmas cheer this season.
