7 Reasons to Choose Ardent Hospice and Palliative Care

Just like no two people are going to have the very same end-of-life plan, no two hospices provide the same care. The quality and type of services can vary greatly from hospice to hospice. The end-of-life journey can be stressful enough; choosing the right hospice for you or your loved one shouldn’t add to the stress.

Our mission at Ardent is to help families in every way, shape, and form as their loved ones enter such a vulnerable and difficult stage in life. Put simply, we go above and beyond to provide a level of care that exceeds expectation. Here are a few of the ways Ardent does things differently to deliver a personal and unrivaled level of care.

1. While we have multiple locations, our agency still has a family-first mentality.

With three locations, Ardent is able to serve patients in the San Diego, Palm Springs, and Fresno areas. Even with our offices spread out, we still provide patients and families with the comfort of a smaller organization. Families are at the forefront of what we do, and it’s our job to be there for them no matter how large our organization grows.

2. Making a connection with patients and families is one of our highest priorities.

At Ardent, one of our licensed team members is there to answer calls 24 hours a day. And because we still have a small-agency mentality, there’s a sense of familiarity with each one of our patients and families—you’ll not only get one of our nurses on the phone, you’ll get a hold of a nurse who is familiar with your situation and care plan.

3. We respond quickly to patients’ needs.

Aside from ensuring patients and families are connected with a real person every time they contact us, we also make sure we respond quickly to their needs. And that starts from the beginning: patients have contact with one of our chaplains, social workers, nurses, bereavement counselors, and home health aides shortly after being admitted into our care. Our nurses have an immediate response time, and are ready with a solution to whatever is going on, so they can be there for a patient and their family when they really need it.

4. We walk beside you through the entire hospice and end-of-life journey.

From the moment a patient or their family contacts us, they become a priority. We’re accessible to the family and ready to meet their needs and answer any questions they may have—including questions about the on-boarding and insurance paperwork necessary for beginning the process of getting hospice care. We understand how overwhelming this time can be, which is why we’re available to lead families through the entire journey, from admission to bereavement after their loved one has passed.

5. We’re in the process of providing multiple therapy services.

We’re always looking for ways to create a more comfortable and soothing environment for our patients. Currently, we’re working with our admin support and nurses throughout our care regions to start incorporating pet therapy and music therapy into our services. These additional care techniques may seem small, but they really make all the difference in providing peace to our patients.

6. We make sure all of a patient’s needs are met.

To us, completely being there for patients and their loved ones means going above and beyond the expected level of hospice care. Ardent has partnered with the No One Should Die Alone Foundation to provide support to patients who may not be financially secure enough to have their basic needs met, or who do not have any loved ones around to care for them. Whether it’s fulfilling a life-long wish like riding a Harley, paying for a child to fly out and be by their loved one’s bedside, or providing basic needs like groceries and medical supplies, we make sure our patients are taken care of.

7. We’ve got a lot of heart.

Overall, the compassion at Ardent is something that really makes us shine. Our founder and owner, Susan Compton, has set the standard for care and kindness that permeates our entire company. A lot of our patients’ families have actually met Susan, and as a registered nurse, she works closely with the team and nurses to constantly and consistently provide the very best care to patients.

At Ardent, patients come first. We take the responsibility of being their care provider during their final days very seriously. To find out more information about Ardent’s hospice and palliative care services, visit our website or call our main office in San Diego at (858) 952-1786.
