When a loved one reaches the end of his or her life, it can be a scary and confusing time, but with the right care and support, it can also be a time of joy and blessings. At Ardent Hospice & Palliative Care, our care philosophy does not focus on death or dying, but rather embracing a patient’s condition while creating an environment of love and meaningfulness during his or her hospice journey.
A doctor might refer a patient to hospice care when the traditional, curative measures for his or her disease are no longer working, providing a benefit to the patient, or improving his or her quality of life. Death is a natural process, and when our patient makes the decision to allow a natural death at home rather than dying in a hospital, we want him or her to feel confident in the care and comfort we provide. We do not speed up the process of dying; we simply support and walk alongside the patient at his or her pace.
That support is 100% covered as hospice care by many insurance companies, including Medicare (MCR). With the hospice benefit, everything related to the hospice diagnosis is completely covered, including all equipment, medication, and medical supplies. The mission of our South Carolina hospice team is to improve our patients’ quality of life through comfort and pain management measures. These also include:
- Skilled Nursing
- Referrals & Placement Services
